It Feels Good To Blog Again

I’ll admit that for a bit I just didn’t feel like blogging here at all. Between working on my soon-to-launch startup & other online projects, I had little time to think about Kipping It Real.

Then I had to take a step back and ask myself which projects really made me happy. Which projects actually would bring value to people’s lives?

So that’s when I decided to focus on Weekend Swap and this blog. Forget the other shit I was working on (no…it wasn’t CrossFit porn…hehe I’m purposely stuffing that phrase here so you’ll see this page rank on Google).

Recovery

Around this same time of busyness, I was still recovering from my abdominal muscle tear.

I actually went to the emergency room again since I felt some symptoms that required me to. Fortunately, I got a 2nd opinion from another doctor. He confirmed it was just a muscle strain, nothing internal.

Phew.

Because they said I was fine to do some light physical activity, I went back to the box a few days after. My WOD’s were modified and had any core-targeted movements removed.

That’s the thing though…almost every CrossFit movement requires some sort of core stimulation, right?

So I decided to take 2 weeks off and just let things heal.

Still Taking It Easy

Taking those 2 weeks off was a good call.

I managed to work on my sleep schedule and overall productivity. Now I’ve locked myself into hitting the sack at around 10:30pm and waking up 5:30am.

And with my training, I’ve been feeling pretty damn good despite easing into things again. My first day back I actually PR’d my overhead squat at 175# (20# gain) lol.

This coming week, I’ll bump things up a bit to prep myself for the GARAGE GAMES.

Yep, on the 20th and 21st, my team of myself and 3 other people from my box, will be doing the scaled down Garage Games Team Competition. I’m pretty stoked for this as there’s no other feeling like the throwdown-type of environment.

It’s such a fuckin adrenaline rush.

If you want a kick in the ass and want to feel more alive than ever, sign up for a CrossFit competition. It doesn’t have to be anything serious. Just do it for the experience. Live in the moment.

So What About This Blog?

Aside from developing some CrossFit porn, I’ll be posting more frequently.

How often?

I’m shooting for every day.

Am I crazy? Oh fuck yes I am. Here are 7 reasons I’m doing so:

1) Writing more often will drive more traffic here.
More visitors = more people commenting = more topics to write about = more fun for you guys

2) I’ve noticed several blogs out there have added my site to their blogrolls.
Yes, I’ve noticed in my analytics that some of you bloggers have been sending readers my way, so I’ll have to add you guys to a “CrossFit Friends” page and share the love.

6) I want to be more involved in the online CrossFit community.
With all these CrossFit blogs popping up, it’d be sweet to get some synergy going. Ya know…commenting and shooting the shit on each other’s blogs. I’m going to be more active with this kind of stuff, so don’t be surprised if I pop up on your blog this week.

7) I want to inspire at least 1 person.
As you might’ve read in my guest post on EndofThreeFitness.com, I started off at the bottom with CrossFit.

Sure, I could squat alright, but anything involving bodyweight movements, running, gymnastics…okay, pretty much 80% of CrossFit, I sucked at. While I’m no Rich Froning right now, I’ve made it a long way and am constantly improving.

I’m all about gradual gains man.

Anytime I look back at my beginnings with things I excel in, I sucked big time. No not in a CrossFit porn kind of way. For example, I was so bad at guitar in 8th grade that my mom didn’t want to hear my playing lol. Now I can learn things on the radio within a few minutes. And what about computers & the internet? I’m all about online marketing for my startup, but I was actually afraid of computers when I was younger. Those “WARNING” pop ups would always scare the shit out of me.

Anyway, what I’m saying is I hope to inspire 1 person reading this blog to reach for their goals. Whether it’s CrossFit-related or not, it’d be awesome if I can help someone out there get past their mental barriers.

Why?

If I didn’t kick my life into overdrive & turn things around, I’d probably be miserable right now. Overweight, stressed, and depressed, working for some job I absolutely hate.

One of the reasons I’m living the life I’ve always wanted is CrossFit.

I’ll chat with you guys again tomorrow. Kip it real, my friends.
